REEL ALASKA is located in Soldotna, a community 140 miles south of Anchorage on the Kenai Peninsula. The world famous Kenai River runs through Soldotna, and it is here that the world record King Salmon (97 lbs. 4oz.) was caught on May 17, 1985. The Kenai River produces on average, the biggest Kings in the world, and is also unique in that it has two separate runs of King Salmon, Coho Salmon, and Red Salmon.

Your trip to the Kenai Peninsula can be limited to fishing or combined with sight-seeing and /or other activities. In addition to our Kenai River fishing packages, we can also arrange the following for you: Halibut fishing, fly-in fishing, flight-seeing and full or half-day boat tours of the Kenai Fjord National Park.

Accommodations in Soldotna fill early. Reservations are a necessity during certain times of the year. Choose lodging with a view of the River and fishing access (Kenai River Lodge) or one of the other motels or Bed and Breakfast establishments scattered throughout the area.

You can't book your fishing trip too early, especially for fishing during the month of July. Book as early as possible for your choice of fishing dates and times.

After arriving in Anchorage, you'll have two options available for your trip to Soldotna. Charter Flights from Anchorage to the Kenai airport take approximately twenty minutes. The airport, located ten miles west of Soldotna, offers car rentals.

For those of you interested in sight-seeing, car rentals are available in Anchorage for the spectacular three hour drive to Soldotna along the Turnagain Arm of the Cook Inlet and though the Kenai Mountains. Be sure to watch for Dahl sheep, mountain goat, bald eagles, moose and Beluga whales while traveling. Several active volcanoes are also readily visible.
